Bridal Shower

I'm getting married in one week folks! Lauren - my roommate and dear friend! - threw me a bridal shower in her infinite goodness and kindness. She and I have been at our apartment alone for a week and we are loving it! But she invited my many friends to celebrate this happy time in my life with me!

Lauren went out of her way to make my bridal shower something special. She was up to the challenge and made it a very memorable night for me. I can't thank her enough!

Here are some pictures from our fun night. All the decorations were done by Lauren. She created the cutest refreshment table, and made a table for "notes to Kelsey" whether it be something nice or some advice I could use for my not-too-distant-future as a married woman! She organized a "how well do you know the bride?" game. It was fun for me to see the responses from my friends, mom, and sister on questions like my most used phrase:

"I feel great about that."

and, most entertaining, how many men I've kissed.

Everyone undershot that one.

What would YOU say?

I am SO EXCITED to marry my best friend in one week! I can't believe it, but it feels so right and I have no doubt Justin is the right choice for me. Stay tuned for the big day post!

THIS IS SPARTA

Hey all! My ultimate frisbee team this semester is BOMB. We just finished our game winning 13-2. I had lots of points, knockdowns, and assists. I wish you guys could see our team play. The championship is next week and we are SO STOKED. Saturday night at 6PM it is happening! We are seeded #1 for the tournament, and it should be EPIC. The game will be streamed live, so all you folks in Boise, go to the website and you can watch us play! =]

HIKING!

For Memorial Day, my FHE group got together and hiked "R Mountain" AKA the north Menan Butte. We got up at 4 this morning. I made french toast and breakfast potatoes, wrapped them in tin foil, put plates, forks, and the food in my backpack and we hit the road around 4:45. We got to the base of the butte at 5 and started hiking. The idea was to get to the top in time for the sun to rise. When we got up there, we were basically in a cloud, and the horizon was blocked by clouds anyway, so we pulled out our food and had breakfast together! Tyler made eggs and I provided the french toast and potatoes. We had quite the feast! I was LOVING every second of the butte. I was getting a kick out of all the basalt everywhere. In geology we've been talking about volcanoes, so it was sweet to look around and know what everything was/meant/ and how it formed! SWEEEET! At one point I gave everyone a mini lesson...everyone was getting a kick out of my excitement.

Other than that, not much is going on! Last week was pretty chill. No tests, just normal school. I've got four exams this week, and I'm leaving for the grand canyon for my REQUIRED geology field trip on THURSDAY so...lots to do! I've still got to buy my rock hammer...but yes, it will be an adventure you will all have to read about later. Until then--peace!

breakfast of champions!

Epic Game of Ultimate

For the first time in HISTORY a girls ultimate team scored enough points to end the game on a point cap...and that team was OURS! We played another competitive game last night at 6PM against the Titans and CLEAT STOMPED THEM! The final score was 13-3. I had 7 knockdowns, 3 assists, and 4 points. My teammates are picking up the sport so quickly, and they listen and trust me when I tell them what I want when we play. I seriously LOVE IT. Trisha is coming down for one of my games when we play the game of the week, so I'm excited for that. Well that's it for this post. Enjoy the pics! The video got cut off, but  it's of me getting the disc, and then when you see me huck it to the endzone, just know the girl caught it for a point. =]

we played with just 7 players, which is the amount you need on the field, which means we played with no subs. I'm so proud of my girls!

the weather was absolutely PERFECT

there was a little drama with me calling a stall count on one of their players who is NOT a fan of me...but oh well. You can't have everyone like you!

I convinced my roommate to play with me this semester and she has been dominating soul! Way to go Kels!

That's me with the disc

Not sure what I just got done doing, but I think it looks cool!

I love it because I am one of the fastest girls in the league, and defense just can't keep up! CAN'T TOUCH THIS!

overdue

Time to update!

I've been rocking my anatomy class. I've had 110% and 120% on my past two quizzes, and my exams have all been in the high 90's or 100's. Awesome. Chemist is a different story. I really like the class, but that last exam was rough. But now I know what to expect, so I'm going to rock it from here on out. Geology I really like. The lab is TOUGH. We have our first exam next Tuesday and I spent three hours in the lab today going over mineral and rock identification. It was so great...I was in there by myself so I spread myself over the whole lab and I was talking out loud to myself pretending I was a scientist and it really helped the information stick!

Relief Society has been wonderful. I love the girls and I am either delusional or things are going very well with everyone! The big rush of callings at the beginning is over so now everyone knows what they should be doing and we can all get down to the business of actually getting to know each other (woot).

I'm coaching Ultimate again this year. I decided I'm going to apply for the coordinator position in the fall. We had our first game last Friday night and we won 10-4. We played well and I'm excited! I'm also on a rec team, but no games there yet.

I don't work much. I'm currently tutoring a guy who is doing the same thing I'm doing in geology, only he's doing it for plants...and instead of camping out in the grand canyon for four days (like what I'll be doing in two weeks) he gets to go to Seattle for a week with a hotel room and identify horticulture. But anyway--we've been doing some serious work getting him to memorize everything, and I'm a great tutor for it because that is all I do in geology and anatomy!

Surprisingly, ORGAN has been the class that stresses me out...who has 4 hours a week to practice? FREAK! I love my social dance class. My partner and I scored the high score of the class last Wednesday during our first exam.

My roommates and I threw a Cinco de Mayo party a few weeks ago which was fun...not much else to say about it.

Justin and I went on a date today that was pretty fun. He brought over random items like paper plates, tin foil, and straws and told me we were making boats, so I had to make a boat and then we were going to race our boats down a canal down the street. We sat back to back so we couldn't see what the other was doing as we made our boats, and then it was fun to compare at the end to see what we both came up with. His boat won, and I got soaked in the process of getting the dang things in the water! Good times.

I love my life! I am so blessed. I am the busiest I have ever been, but I feel like I'm growing so much. Our stake has a few goals, and one of them is to do scripture study for 30 minutes every morning. I've been doing that for the past little while, and it has been very beneficial! I believe Heavenly Father blesses us as we seek for opportunities to be more obedient, and I'm grateful for the blessings that come spiritually as studying strengthens my testimony, as well as temporally as I strive to do well in my classes and to form meaningful relationships with others. In relief society our goal for the month is to pray for opportunities to serve others. In our coaches meeting today our coordinator asked us why we do certain things for our players for them to be recognized, and it reminded me of a tenant we learned in History and Philosophy of Education..."It's not about you; it's about them." So I hope we can find ways to make life about others and focus less on ourselves....LOL...as I sit here and write this monologue. All right folks--I'll post again sometime in the distant future. Enjoy the pics!

lab lab lab

Hello all! This week has been really good. I had my first chemistry, geology, and biology labs. Monday was one of the longest days of my life. I didn't get home until about 9 after being at school since 7:45. I had class until 12:30, then a chemistry lab from 12:45-2:45 where we measured the densities of water for two hours using all sorts of different tools. Then I had to figure out how precise and accurate my measurements were using standard deviation and percent change equations. It was so annoying.

We had our ward activity that night and met our new FHE brothers. We've got some cute ones, so that's fun, and then our ward played musical chairs and stuff so it was fun. I went at 6:20 to help set up, but NOTHING was set up; no chairs, no tables, not a thing. The activity was 10 minutes away so I started setting up tables all by myself until extra help came. After cleaning up for the activity I absolutely had to go grocery shopping so I did that and then I had homework to do so I spent my evening until 11 at the library. That was awful! But hopefully tomorrow's Monday won't be so awful. =]

Tuesday was another huge day. I got done with class at 8:45 and then I did homework until it was time for devotional. I can't remember what devotional was about but I remember I liked it a lot. After devotional I have a three hour geology lab from 3-6. That was hecka crazy. I didn't realize there was a ton of paperwork I was supposed to print off before the lab, but luckily my good friend Brett (who is also in that class and is my partner in the work we do) didn't have the papers either so I didn't feel too stupid. We spent the three hours identifying minerals. It took me longer than the three hours to finish the questions and stuff, but I actually kind of liked it. At the time I didn't like it, but looking back I am proud of myself! I got asked out by a guy in my ward that night and we planned on getting ice cream the next day. Holy crap guys I can't believe it -- I don't know what it is but lately the guys have been asking me out like crazy! Last semester I think I went on one date. In that past two weeks I've had like 8. The heck?

Wednesday is my easiest day of the week because I only have to do homework for chemistry and I don't have a lab, so I totally played frisbee that day, and I also went out for ice cream with the guy from my ward. Yes it was a great day. I also worked that day with a student at the Reading Center, so that was great!

Thursday I had my first anatomy lab where we talked about connective tissue. It was awesome! After that I met with a chemistry partner and we figured out a few final things for our lab we did, and then I went to work for a meeting. From there I worked on my lab some more, did chemistry homework, studied for geology and anatomy, and finally at 6:20 my laptop died so I decided it was time to go home. At 7 I had a date and we went to a show on campus called "Vocalendante" or something. It's a German group of five guys that sing A Capella and it was a great show! My favorite songs they sang were Easy and Footloose. So fun!

Friday I had class from 7:45 to 2:45. I had organ that day at 12:45 and this guy came in just on time and was like "I just got back from the temple. I didn't think I'd make it to class!" and I was like, "You just got back from the temple? You must be super righteous," and my class died laughing especially my teacher Sister Parkinson who is like 100 years old. It was funny. After class I decided I wanted to go to the temple, so I got my friend Lauren to go with me. We went to the Idaho Falls temple. She had never been to that temple before, and I figured we could do baptisms there at 4 unlike Rexburg, and it would be quicker if we went to I.F, did baptisms, and drove back then it would be to just go at the Rexburg temple on a Saturday morning. That night a group of friends and I made breakfast for dinner and watched Moneyball. I made crepes, a schmear to go on it with fresh strawberries and a mixture of frozen berries that I let thaw. The guys brought bacon and my friend Lauren made French toast. It was a feast! That was a good night.

Saturday I got up and went to the geology lab at 8 and practiced identifying minerals for an hour and a half. After that I went to a 4 on 4 tournament for frisbee and played from 10 to 2. That was awesome! My team won 3 and lost 2, and they fed us afterward so that was a great time. After that Lauren and I drove to Idaho Falls to meet Trisha, Mom, and Mom's family for lunch at Chuck-a-Rama. That was awesome! I forgot about the fireside afterward so Lauren and I just sort of took advantage of the hospitality of Mom paying for lunch....sorry Mom, but thanks! I really like Mom's family. One of her brothers (IDK who) came over and made an effort to talk to Lauren and I since there wasn't room for the two of us at the "adult" table...haha.

Today has been glorious. I love my ward so much! We had fast Sunday today and I am just happy as a clam. I can do anything good!! I can coach frisbee and work and be relief society president and take 15 science credits and ANYTHING good! If you haven't seen that youtube video then that won't make sense to you...but anyway--I'm headed to a pancake party. Thanks for making it through my post!

Breakfast for dinner!

I think this is language from Lord of the Rings...it was on the board before my geology class. LOL

My team. The three in the middle had never played before, so to get 9th was awesome! The far right is a great handler.
