A couple weeks ago we took a trip to Washington to visit the fam. The day before we left I felt the tickle in the back of my throat...greaaaat. So I popped a few zinc that night and settled in for a long cold (the congestion of which has YET to go away!). Thursday we drove to Boise for our flight which ended up getting delayed an hour, so we got burgers and shakes and spent some time at the arcade with the kids. In no time at all we were landed in Seattle and the scenery was gorgeous! I love flying over the Cascades and Mt. Ranier. I also love not living in the path of a lahar.🤣

We got our car rental and headed down to Puyallup. We spent the rest of the day with Justin's parents and I made a quick trip to Target (oh to live 5 minutes away from a Target....sigh....) for all things cold-related: a neti pot (a must have), some supplements, you get it. Judy fed us homemade mac n cheese for dinner which our children devoured.
Friday was the worst of my cold but I was still able to participate in all our planned activities. We drove down to Olympia at a trampoline place and the kids absolutely loved it. I was super low-energy so we didn't waste money on an hour of jumping for me, but man was it fun watching Emmett and Logan (and Justin and Jon playing their own version of dodgeball at one point...). The one saving grace of being sick for the trip was I was able to get some Pho which is the ultimate sick food (Vietnamese soup). The meat comes raw and the broth boiling hot so when you assemble all your additives like mint, green onion, bean sprouts, etc it cooks the meat in the broth: perfect for a sore throat.
Saturday we went to our favorite pumpkin patch in Buckley. We timed it just right to get the torrential downpour that was not in the forecast, but we stuck it out long enough to enjoy some sunshine. This place was awesome - they had a candy cannon, a giant trampoline, some kind of artillery that shot apples at targets, zip lines, train rides, farm animals and corn mazes - you name it, they had it. We really enjoyed our time there. We had dinner with Jon and Laura that night at Daniel's Broiler in Seattle. It was fancy enough that we won't need to go out to eat for another two years🤣 - but the dinner and conversation were excellent.
Sunday we went to church at Jon and Judy's ward which had many of our old friends. They even had the primary program while we visited, so I was happy about that because our own ward was doing the program that same Sunday and I was sad to be missing it. That afternoon we went for a visit to see the Christensen's - we aboslutely love them! Emmett especially enjoyed chasing their chickens. Jon and Eleanor had a joint birthday celebration at Keith and Gerda's afterwards. That night the kids said goodbye to their cousins - they all played so well together and it was sad to see everyone go. I felt more sad leaving this trip than I did moving! We sure have an awesome family and a good time when we come visit. It was getting late but we had to go see our friends the Fillmore's before we hit the hay. Heather has a daughter at BYU-Idaho and we've seen her a couple times since she's been attending this fall. Monday morning we took it easy and then moseyed to the airport. My congestion was much better so my ears didn't go totally berserk flying home.
For Halloween this year the kids got to do some fun trick or treating. In Arco at 4:00 all the businesses on main street set up tables, booths, ambulances, horse trailers, you name it - and the kids go trick or treating. At 6:00 the ward did a trunk or treat up at the shelter - by then it was totally freezing so we did a quick lap with the kids, wolfed down some soup and went home. I was disappointed later to find out they had a carnival at the high school we could have gone to - bummer! - oh well, next year for sure.

That weekend Mom and I headed to Rigby to help Trisha paint her basement with Mitzi. One thing I've really loved about living here has been all the quality time with Mom. We had a good visit crossing the desert both times. After dinner at Fiesta Ole we knocked the basement out in about two hours - much faster than any of us anticipated. Yay for Trisha! Yay for us! We watched My Bodyguard afterward and ate German chocolate cake and left over Halloween candy.
We were SUPPOSED to be moved in already, but Shannon has had some issues getting the house in order (i.e., moving his junk/furniture out, getting repairs done, getting lease paperwork drawn up, etc.) but we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.
He is completely moved out as of Saturday, but the final pipe repairs have yet to be done (there were supposed to get done today). This has postponed my cleaning lady from coming because she needs running water, and she thinks the job is going to take her two days! The kitchen and bathroom are truly a mess. I've been cleaning what I can in the meantime. By next update we should be moved in.
Emmett is finally giving up his naps, but the other day he fell asleep on me. I don't mind.
