January Happenings

Not a lot to update on since Christmas, but here I go.

Justin and I are in charge of the stake youth conference this year. This has been quite a process, and I cannot even fathom doing a trek like Trisha did. We were given a budget that hardly allowed us to do anything. We finally found a church owned camp that would work, but when we brought it to the stake meeting last Sunday they shot it down big time.

I was incredibly frustrated because with Justin and I divvying up the work, it's been my job to find a venue. So hearing everyone hate our plan was annoying. But it did give us room to ask for more money. One of the stake leaders asked me "How much to do you need?" I said, "Ask for 15 grand and we'll maybe get 12!" I know that seems like a ton, but any kind of venue isn't going for less than 10 grand. Turns out I got my way and we found an awesome place to have our conference in April.

I'm coaching the young women basketball team again. Our first game was yesterday and we lost. There goes my undefeated record!

We are enjoying Jackson the Puppy very much. He is basically potty trained. He hardly has any accidents anymore, goes straight to the door when he needs to go. He goes in the same spot every time and comes right back to the door when he's all done! He knows plenty of commands. We've only needed to get up once in the night to let him out (still can't hold his bladder through the night). We have a puppy sitter that comes once a day to let him out. He is sweet but we're going through the phase of teaching him not to chew everything.
We napped together the other day....sweet baby! Oh, and I got highlights and a hair cut #winning
Teaching has been better. I'm almost through the first semester. Can you believe school goes until June 24th here? Isn't that just...the most horrible thing you've ever heard? I fought a kid over a tuning fork when I was doing a sound lab earlier this week. I didn't even know who this kid was! After screaming/swearing at him (first time swearing at a kid; came {     } close to kicking his trash), he reported to the other science teacher Ms. Killett, "Mrs. Rose can fight." Yeah spread the rumor kid, maybe the rest of you hooligans will leave me alone!

Couple of my students doing a reflection lab - they had to trace a star using only the reflection. They were surprisingly terrible at it. ;)

A couple students tried bribing me with fruit snacks to let them be my T.A's for next semester. Ha! They know me so well. Don't mind the spelling error - it's the thought that counts!
Justin had his one year review. They LOVE him at work. They give you ratings on a scale of 1-4; he got two 5's. Ha! He is so great and I'm so proud of him! You go babe- you go.

We planned a get-away to Vegas for February, so we are looking forward to visiting friends and staying in a nice hotel. Vegas is the place to vacation! They expect people to come and gamble, so everything else is super cheap!

We had dinner with Jon and Laura yesterday at a fancy Mexican restaurant in Tacoma. Jon accidentally bit into half of a fresh jalepeno...ha! Poor guy. If that had been me I would have needed an ambulance - I don't do spicy!

That's pretty much it. Not a lot going on...so I'll get back to enjoying my three-day weekend :)
