Our Ultimate Life: June 2019

So! May 15th we listed our house and that day alone we had 12 people come take a look. For the next four days it tuns out we would be hanging out at Jon's house during the day while he and Laura and the girls were at work/school while people toured our home. Thursday eight people looked at it and Friday there were 10 more. Saturday was our open house and 25 people came to look. But by Monday morning we hadn't received any offers. Our realtor suggested we drop the price to $325,000 to trigger a new batch of buyers, but I felt uneasy about making such a leap too soon. So I called Hart and he said if 55 people had seen the house with no bites, yeah the price needed to drop but to try $329,000 first and see. Monday and Tuesday we had five visitors each day, so still some foot traffic but definitely slowing down and still no offers. Pretty much everyone had the same complaint: no garage (c'mon people...y'all don't live in your garage you know...).

So Wednesday - exactly a week after listing - we dropped the price and eight people came to look. One realtor took a video walk through of the house for a family living in Texas and Thursday morning we had an official offer waiting for us in our email from them. Yay! Maybe it helps that they didn't see it in person...? Ha... I hope not/kinda don't care. They offered $335,000 and we countered with our original $340,000 which they accepted. The inspection was scheduled for the next week on Tuesday.

*testimony moment* I was listening to Dave Ramsey's podcast while I was cleaning on Wednesday (because when your house is listed for sale and you have two kids, literally all you do is clean the floor) and a new Christian convert was asking about tithing. I remembered that I hadn't paid tithing from Mary Kay from the month before. I hadn't paid myself yet because I pay other people/expenses to run the business so I decided to go ahead and put in a little "fire insurance" as Brother Goudling would say and give a generous offering. Kid you not! We got an offer the next day and they accepted a counter at our original asking price. I mean - c'mon - that doesn't just happen! I am a firm believer that The Lord sends miracles into our lives so we can glorify His name in all that we've been given, and I know this blessing is directly from Him. According to our realtor, there were A LOT of flags on the inspection, but luckily for us there were some bigger fish to fry on the report that made all the other "quirks" of the house not enough of an issue to scare the buyers away. With that said, the house needs a new roof. The crawl space also had some rodent activity that needed attention, and the HVAC was super dirty so... the HVAC got serviced on Thursday, the crawl space got cleaned out on Friday and is getting put back together Monday, and the roof is scheduled for Wednesday with the appraisal scheduled for the 10th. I'm feeling super grateful that we were able to find solutions so quickly! Once the appraisal is done I will feel confident enough to start packing. June 24th is the closing date but we will probably move the weekend of the 21st so...that's three weeks! It's going to go fast.

Aside from house stuff, Memorial weekend Justin's brother James came to visit from Georgia and they had a modified "brother's weekend" - some camping with just the boys but some other activities for the whole family. I did the notorious Murph crossfit workout on that Saturday with a goal to finish in 40 minutes and I did it in 38:45 #crushedit.

Now we are just trying to enjoy the time we have left here with high hopes for the future. Yesterday and today we had stake conference which was so good! Justin and I agreed that Saturday night's sessison was one of the best we've ever been to. I get excited about personal growth opportunities and a chance to become the best possible version of myself - I feel a greater responsibility to be my best as the mama of two special boys who need me to teach them truth and righteousness. It's the MOST important thing.

On a side-note: I started using L'ange products on my hair because they had a huge sale and I've been wanting to try them for a while. Oh. My. Goodness. That is all.
