Happy Holidays

Phew! It's been a few weeks.

We decided last-minute to buy tickets and go to Idaho for Thanksgiving. We went through the prerequisites to get pre-check to make our lives easier as we travel more and more these days - especially with the kiddos. Our flight was scheduled to leave at 6:30 Tuesday morning and got cancelled due to the super thick fog here in Seattle. They rescheduled us for a flight later that afternoon that just kept getting delayed. After many tears - both from the kids and myself - we called Alaska customer service (for the up-teenth time) and cancelled the tickets for a full refund and decided to drive. Mind you, if we had left for Idaho at 4:00 that morning when we got up to get to the airport, we would have been just a few hours away from our destination at this point. Grrrr. Logan's carseat had been checked, so we bought a new carseat (he was needing a new one anyway because he is so tall) and drove to Kennewick to stay for the night. We also got a $100 voucher after telling them our sob story a few days later toward our next flights.

We got to Arco Wednesday late-afternoon and had a great time with Keaton, Mitzi, Trisha, and Chase's families. Planes, Trains, and Automobiles was a bit painful to watch this year, but the pie pig out didn't disappoint. Thanksgiving morning we actually ate dinner at noon instead of the usual 11:00. That afternoon we went up to the church and played lightning and a little volleyball but turns out we were all pretty terrible so we went back to lightning. We decided to head for home Friday. We hit snow on the Blue Mountains, had horrible rain and wind through Pendleton and finally had it clear up for us after Tri-Cities. We pushed through Yakima and would have pressed all the way to home except Snoqualmie pass closed down for the night from the snow and accidents. We stayed the night in Ellensburg which reminded me a lot of Rexburg.

nice jump shot Dad!

We were blessed with a snowy Friday morning - I forgot how snow SPARKLES in Idaho...so beautiful

this was after they closed the pass - no thanks!

Keaton and Chase went hunting Friday after we left - I was sad to miss an opportunity to shoot a gun and get my hick fix for the next year or so

The kids were total troopers and great little travelers. My family marveled at Emmett's high-energy and gusto. I marvel at that kid daily! He is SO much joy and SO much work. I'm convinced God saved that special boy just for me.

We have had a wonderful Christmas season. We've been to Zoo Lights, went to see Santa and the Reindeer at Watson's, we had our annual cookie exchange and look forward to the coming week. I'll be making Mom's corn chowder this coming Sunday to share - it won't be nearly as good without her corn from the garden. Logan is 9 months old now - he took TWO consecutive steps THIS MORNING before falling down. We think he'll be walking by Christmas.

We went to see Heather (in my unit) at her open house

We've had some big events with MK that have been blessing my unit. Sean Key came to the PNW and you had to be specially invited to attned - that was awesome. We had a guest event with over 50 people in November and over 20 in December. Phew! These are new for me and proving to be wildly successful.
