Corn, Peaches, and Pears

I spent a lot of my time this week finishing up the garden and canning. Monday I did peaches and Mom came over to help. She is much faster at peeling and cutting peaches than me so she did more than her fair share of the work. I had corn ready to cut and freeze so she helped me get a bunch of bags of corn done too. I did corn all the rest of the week and tried to give some away to whoever wanted it. Friday I did pears and plan to do more next week.
Justin made our Come, Follow Me lesson this week. I read the verse that said what destruction happened to what city and the kids had to run around the house to find the picture to match. Then Justin had them make a sticker path to Boutiful to show that the people gathered there for when Jesus came.

Snow on the mountains!

Emmett likes to take pictures of us randomly

I love how having our garden and chores around the yard forces my kids to be outside. I recently started following "1000 hours outside" on instagram and I'm looking forward to reading "Balanced and Barefoot."

all the stalks knocked over

We left the husks to till in later this fall per Mom's suggestion (feed the soil) - now we've just gotta haul all the stalks away ๐Ÿ˜

Before...
After!
I've had my eye on "Beddys" for Emmett's room for a while. I took advantage of their Labor Day sale and got some - the bedding zips up like a sleeping bag so it's easy for kids to make their beds. Plus they are sooooo cute!

We went to Idaho Falls on Thursday. After our errands we got Chick-Fil-A for the first time since we moved. Oh. My. Word. I got a peach shake and it was ah-mazing. I wouldn't share with Justin - it was that good ("Get your own peach shake if you want some!" ๐Ÿ˜‚).
Tuesdays and Thursdays are when Emmett has preschool, so Logan and I get to do stuff just the two of us. We like to walk the track (him on his balance bike), go to the park, the library, or sometimes all three. When we walked the track last week he found the pirate ship and wanted to play on it.

Logan doing his best to make every activity more risky than necessary๐Ÿ˜‚
We finished our corn this week. PHEW! We have more than we need so I plan to give lots of it away and try to use it up. It was so FUN to have a garden this year. I'm already thinking what we'll do different next year.

The boys playing in the dirt at the baseball field๐Ÿ˜‚

Tuesday I made a peach pie and I'm so annoyed that I didn't take a picture of the end product! We took it to Mom's to share and also to have her vanilla ice cream to go with it. It was a little runny but otherwise soooo yummy.

lots of smoky skies last week

I hit one of my 2020 goals early this week. I can officially do a pull up from the hang position ๐Ÿ˜ I can't quite do two in a row but I can do one and that was what I wanted to accomplish at some point this year so - YAY for me! My previous coaches in WA said you should work up to doing 5-10 strict pull ups before you do kipping pull ups to protect your shoulders. Lots of people rush to kipping before building that proper foundation and you see a lot of injuries. If I'm gonna do something, I'm gonna do it right, that's for sure.
